Tony & Alisa’s Quick Stats:

Tony & Alisa’s Ages : 36 & 35
Years Married : 13
Kids : 2 (ages 7 & 4)
Pets : 0 (There’s enough going on in our household)

We have been married since 1996.  We met in the summer of 1994 while Alisa was at CU-Boulder for a summer internship and Tony was on of four fraternity guys hired to cook and clean.  I often joke that I knew Tony could cook before we ever started dating.  He was our morning cook, and even now the kids say he makes better eggs than I do.

We both thought that our time together was just supposed to be a fling and here we are a lifetime later.  At the end of the summer I (Alisa) left CU for my senior year at DePauw University http://www.depauw.edu.  We started a long distance relationship and were able to see each other about every 6 weeks or so.  We financed our relationship on credit cards and really got to know each other through lots (and lots of phone calls).  We were dating at the very beginning of the internet and had no cell phones!

After I graduated I moved out to Colorado and tried to find a job, no luck.  A few months later we ended up in Southern California with Tony’s family.  Tony proposed on Thanksgiving Day 1995 and we began planning our wedding.

A year later we married and began this adventure called marriage.  We had no idea what was in store for us…

That’s who we are, but this blog is about more than just us.  It’s about relationships, in particular marriage.   Our intention is not to make this a one-sided conversation about a day in the life of.  We would much rather engage in a dialogue. With each other. And with you. As events, “discussions” and understandings evolve in our own lives, we’ll share them with you, then–and this is the important part–we hope you’ll share your experiences with us.

Thanks for joining us.

I just read your island post and it made me miss you guys even more. We love you. Evan and I were just talking about Andrew, you, and Alisa last night.
    Hugs, love, and Prayers,
    Linda

Thank you for being a part of our wonderful circle of friends. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 years since Andrew died, sometimes it seems like just yesterday. I am so appreciative for the family and friends that we have that remember him and talk about him. As difficult as it was I am amazed at all that has happened as a result of his life, short as it was. Hopefully we will see you soon.

Cynthia, I love how you phrased “live with my heart open, in love!”. We hope to be a place of encouragement, providing the resources and tools that couples need to truly become one in their relationship.
